Now that you’re pregnant, you’ll be having a lot of doctor appointments, especially towards the end of your pregnancy. During these appointments, your doctor will check your weight and baby’s growth, and will want to discuss your:
- Medications and vitamins
- Symptoms
- Questions
While using a pregnancy app isn’t vital, it certainly does make tracking everything easier. Plus, it’s awesome to see how your baby is growing and developing! Personally, this was my favorite part, and was also a great reminder that there is an amazing reason for all of the pregnancy symptoms.
When I learned I was pregnant, I download a bunch of pregnancy apps since I didn’t really know what I needed or wanted. I ended up liking two apps and used them consistently.
BabyCenter
I love the BabyCenter app. It is easy to navigate and incredibly user friendly.
Each week you will get a summary of your pregnancy, along with your baby’s development, and an overview of some common symptoms you might be experiencing.

Besides awesome weekly information, it has some great tools like a symptom tracker, baby name generator, weight gain calculator, and birth class.
What to Expect
The other app I used through my pregnancy was the What to Expect app.
Whether it’s the books, website, or app, What to Expect is an amazing resource for learning about pregnancy, and parenting.
Besides the typical weekly updates (baby’s growth and development, and changes to mom’s body), the app also features dozens of articles and videos. Additionally, there is also a journal which makes tracking everything pregnancy-related super easy. But one of my favorite features is the list of tests and procedures to expect at upcoming doctor appointments.

Since each app has different tools and features, I used both the BabyCenter and What to Expect apps during my pregnancy.
Newborns and Beyond
After my baby was born, I learned that it’s really important to track feedings, diaper changes, and sleep habits for newborns (at minimum for a few weeks). Although tedious, this will help you and your pediatrician determine if your baby is healthy and developing as expected.
While you can track everything on a spreadsheet or in a notebook, you may find it easier to use an app. For this reason, I kept using the BabyCenter and What to Expect apps after my baby was born. I appreciated that both apps transitioned seamlessly from pregnancy apps to baby apps.
